MWERA Overview: MWERA is incorporated as a non-for-profit association. Membership dues cover the costs of our organization and our journal.  Conference registration fees cover the costs of our conference.  While we strive to keep our conference costs low, every attendee can help by staying at the conference hotel.  The hotel lowers fees for meeting room use based on the number of guests who stay at the hotel.  While it may seem less expensive for a member to stay in a nearby hotel, it ultimately is much more expensive if we have to raise our conference fees to cover the costs because not enough guests stayed at the hotel.

MWERA is a tax-exempt association.  We welcome sponsorships of journal covers, conference events, general conference sponsorships, and other donations that may be tax-deductible to our organization to help defray our costs.  Members are urged to talk with their employers about sponsorship

MWERA knows how difficult it is for graduate students to attend meetings, and join organizations.  We also know how vital MWERA membership is to graduate students.  We encourage members to purchase a gift membership for graduate students, or for others whom they believe would benefit from membership.

At our annual meeting, we present the Dr. Jean Pierce Student Recruitment Chocolate Rose Award to the member who brings the most graduate students to the annual meeting.  The past few years’ awardees include:  Gordon Brooks, Kelly Bradley, Aimin Wang, Judith Zimmerman, Janet Holt, Ellen Sigler, and Francis Godwyll.

At our annual meeting we have the Charles A. Anderson tribute drawing. This is a one-year free student membership to a graduate student who is in attendance at the meeting, and pre-registered for the entire meeting. The student need not be a presenter to be eligible to win. The winner’s name is randomly selected at our annual luncheon.

Mid-Western Educational Research Association Welcomes Sponsorships

The Mid-Western Educational Research Association (MWERA) is a not-for-profit organization. MWERA is seeking sponsorships for our annual meeting to support social networking events, awards, special sessions, and our graduate students. Support levels start at $100 and up. As a not-for-profit, your sponsorship may be tax-deductible.  If you wish to sponsor an event in whole or in part, please contact Sharon McNeely, Ph.D., MWERA Executive Director, at mwera.ed@gmail.com for further rate information.  You are also welcome to fill-in this form and mail it with your check to: MWERA, c/o Sharon McNeely, PO BOX 34421, Chicago, IL 60634.
